Kruja Castle, Old Bazaar & Sari Salltik Day Tour
The castle, the bazaar and the mountain shrine above town, in one guided day from Tirana.
Kruja Castle, Old Bazaar & Sari Salltik Day Tour
This is the full day: Kruja Castle and the Old Bazaar in the morning, lunch in town, then the drive up Mali i Krujes to the cave shrine of Sari Salltik. It combines our two Kruja tours at the price of both, with one pickup and one booking.
The morning starts with a short walk down to the Old Bazaar (Çarshia e Vjeter), the cobbled Ottoman market street where artisans still weave carpets and work silver. From there you go up into Kruja Castle with your guide, on the trail of Skanderbeg, with optional visits to the Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic Museum (separate entrance fees, paid at the door).
After lunch the road climbs seven kilometres up the mountain to a ledge 1,150 m above sea level, with views over central Albania to the Adriatic on a clear day. A steep staircase leads down to the cave: the sacred spring, the tomb of Sari Salltik and a small mosque said to be the oldest in Albania. Your guide tells the Bektashi legend of the dervish who killed the dragon of Kruja.
The guided day in Kruja takes about six hours. From Tirana, plan on 7 to 8 hours door to door.

Kruja Castle & Sari Salltik Day Tour, Good to Know
Can I do this tour as a day trip from Tirana?
Yes. Kruja is 32 km from Tirana, a 45 to 55 minute drive. We collect you door-to-door from your Tirana hotel, a central meeting point or Tirana Airport (Rinas), run the tour, and have you back in Tirana the same day. Plan for the tour's listed duration plus about 45 to 55 minutes' drive each way. If you're continuing your trip, a one-way drop in Kruja works too.
Where do you pick up, Tirana, Durres or the beaches?
Pickup is door-to-door from any Tirana hotel, a central Tirana meeting point, Tirana Airport (Rinas) and the wider Tirana area, and from Durres, the cruise port and the Durres Riviera beach resorts including Golem, Qerret and Mali i Robit. Always a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle with your local driver-guide. You choose round-trip or a one-way drop in Kruja; private transfers are available too.
How far is Kruja from Tirana, and how long does it take?
Kruja is about 32 km north of Tirana, a 45 to 55 minute drive, and roughly 30 minutes from Tirana Airport (Rinas).
How much does the tour and the Tirana pickup cost?
The guided tour is €40 per person. Round-trip transfer from Tirana is quoted on request, because the price depends on your group size and date, sharing the vehicle with other guests is cheaper than a private transfer. Send us your hotel and dates and we'll give you an exact price.
How is this different from booking the two tours separately?
It is the same two tours at the same price, EUR 20 each, run as one day with one pickup and a lunch break in between, so you do not have to coordinate two bookings.
How hard is the day?
The castle and the bazaar are easy walking on cobbles. At Sari Salltik a steep staircase goes down to the cave, roughly 10 minutes down and 15 back up. There is no hike.
Is the castle entrance included?
The castle grounds and the Old Bazaar are free to walk. The Skanderbeg Museum and the Ethnographic Museum charge a small fee each, paid at the door in lek, and are optional.
